The mistake of saying, "I'll have just one..."
The other day my husband was helping me set up my classroom. School is approaching and he so kindly was helping me get ready. He rushed straight from work to spend the next several hours cutting, moving, and taping. Our school is an older building and does not have air conditioning. We are lucky enough to have a window unit but when it gets really hot it is just not able to keep up. After about an hour of moving my furniture and sweat pouring off of him I could tell he looked zapped of energy. My husband prides himself on being a fairly healthy eater; although I'm sure having a wife that cooks and eats healthy does not hurt! I think the combination of moving heavy furniture, working all day, the hot temperature, and it being dinnertime had gotten to him. My husband then said naively, "Katie, where is your bucket of candy. I need something to eat. I'm only going to have one." Next thing I know, a MOUND of wrappers is sitting in front of him. He almost looked sheepish sitting behind them all. He mumbled something about having a chocolate bar and not being able to stop!
For me, once I get the taste in my mouth I also lose control. Be careful about what you put in your mouth or before you know it, you really could be the one sitting behind a mound of candy wrappers guiltly regretting what just happened.
Find out tomorrow why it is important to drink a lot of water...
